The number of passengers travelling to or from Skellefteå Airport has recovered quickly after the corona pandemic. The traffic statistics for August 2022 show a growth in the number of domestic passengers of +16.7% compared to the same month in 2019.
In August 2022, 22,005 domestic passengers flew to or from Skellefteå Airport, which is an increase of 3,152 passengers or 16.7 percent compared to the same month in 2019. This means that Skellefteå Airport has had more domestic travellers than in 2019 since April.
- Skellefteå’s growth is of course the biggest factor in our rapid recovery, but the statistics are also a testament to Skellefteå Airport’s importance for passenger transport to and from the region,” says the airport’s CEO Robert Lindberg.
Compared to 2019, there are more operators and more destinations. SAS continues to operate daily flights to and from Stockholm-Arlanda, but in addition, both BRA and Ryanair have established themselves at the airport and a new route to Karleby-Jakobstad in Finland started in August.
- There is a great interest in Skellefteå and due to the regional growth the need for good air connections is increasing.
We are actively working to develop the airport for the future with a wider range of departures and destinations,” says Robert Lindberg.
